Keyboarding

This course is designed to teach the basic principles of Keyboarding through the mastery of alphabetic and numeric keyboard by utilizing the "touch" method. Students will also be required to create a variety of documents using Microsoft Word XP and will be introduced to the Internet with a variety of projects. No prior knowledge of computers is required.

Word Processing and Applications

This course is designed as a continuation of keyboarding and provides a computerized approach to word processing and desktop publishing. Students will learn the essentials of Microsoft Excel XP and PowerPoint XP.

Grade 10

Computer I

Concentration in Adobe Photoshop, PageMaker, and  focuses on the integration of Microsoft Office with MS Access.

Prerequisite: Earned 90% or better in WP/A.

Computer II

Supervised computer projects for the advanced computer student. Study projects chosen in consultation with MAHS faculty instructor.


Prerequisite: Computer I and faculty approval.

Computer Programming I

Uses the basic programming language. This course includes input, output, branching, looping, graphics, arrays, matrices, files and sorting and searching algorithms.

Prerequisite: One year of high school algebra.

Computer Programming II

College In High School—University of  Pittsburgh  . The objectives of this course are to use the computer in an interactive environment, to analyze problems, to develop algorithms, to learn the VISUAL BASIC language and to design code and to document programs using techniques of good programming. Successful completion of this course will provide college credit. 

Prerequisite: Computer Programming I.
