Dear Applicant: Please assist us in the application process by reviewing all the information contained in this packet. We encourage you to send in your completed application as soon as possible Admission acceptance to Mount Alvernia High School, as well as primary consideration for language and class choices, will be given to applications received by February 27, 2010. We hope the enclosed information will help you with your application to Mount Alvernia High School. We are here to answer your questions as you move through this process. Complete Diocesan (PSAS) packet which covers SOS, BEF (Bishops Education Fund) and Mount Alvernia High School aid. Deadline: March 15, 2010 and mailed to the Private School Aid Service. Financial aid will be granted on a need basis from the information provided by the PSAS (Private School Aid Service.) If you have any questions please call: Mrs. Kimberly Minick, Principal at: 412-821-3858 Mrs. Kara Agens, Guidance Counselor at 412-821-3858, Ext 276 Tuition and Fees InformationTuition and Fees: Tuition for 2010-2011 Catholic parishioners: $6,125 Non-Catholic students: $6,925 Tuition payments : 10 Monthly Installments July 15, 2010 - April 15, 2011 Tuition Assistance: Evaluation of need is done by the Private School Aid service (PSAS). The PSAS application is used to qualify students for both School Aid and the Bishop's Educational Fund. Forms are available at any Diocesan high school or parish grade school. The PSAS forms are to be postmarked by early March and sent directly to the PSAS Office. Late applications may be processed, but funds may not be available. Other Scholarships: The John Neumann Scholarship is available to a Junior moving into her Senior Year ($300.00). The Frank Kornelly Endowment Fund awards grants to students in grades nine through twelve who are recognized as scholar/athletes. Busing: Mt. Alvernia receives free busing service from the following school districts: City of Pittsburgh, Fox Chapel, Hampton, North Allegheny, North Hills, Penn Hills, and Shaler. "Rule of thumb for busing"–as long the boundary of the student's school district is within a ten-mile radius of the public school district, busing must be provided. |
