GUIDANCE RESOURCES
for
College Videos -one week sign out available.
Scholarship Files –Copies of each scholarship are placed in alphabetical files that you can research during free time; you may take forms from these files.
College Applications –Also placed alphabetically and available to you during free time, you may take applications for college you are interested in.
College Catalogs –College Catalogs contain programs offered, course descriptions and information about each college. They, too, can be researched during your free time; however, we ask that they remain in the Guidance Office.
Career Tests –If you are not sure about what field that you would like to major in or what type of career to pursue, these tests will help you with your decision.
1) Completed applications should be submitted to the Guidance Office with postage (approx. $2.00.)
2) Completed applications will remain in the Guidance Office until high school transcripts are released (see Senior Transcript Request form.)
a. You are entitled to four transcript requests at no charge. These requests may be made for both college applications and scholarship applications.
b. If more than four requests are made, an additional $4.00 per request is required.
c. Parents must sign the Senior Transcript Request form.
d. Transcripts will not be released for students who have outstanding tuition balances with Mt. Alvernia.
e. Only official transcripts (with school seal and principal signature) will be sent.
3) Completed transcripts will be held with applications and mailed together.
4) Please allow three weeks for application/transcript completion and letters of recommendation from faculty. I would love to write a letter for you; however, I will need an outline of your activities and work/volunteer experiences.
5) Students are not permitted to know their class rank; I will attach this information prior to mailing completed applications.

Mt. Alvernia requires 40 hours of volunteer work/community service for graduation. If you are a transfer student you are required to fulfill 10 hours per year in attendance.
College Visits
Each senior is permitted to attend weekend college visits. Please let your teachers know what days you will be out. You will be responsible for any missed assignments. Please provide confirmation of attendance on college/university letterhead for your record.
Each senior is also permitted to attend three presentations held during junior seminar. I will post College Presentation schedules in the Spirit Room and in Room 107. Please get permission slip from the Guidance Office and inform teacher from class missed prior to attending.
